Training

ASIST 2 Day Workshop

ASIST is an award winning 2 day, in person training program based on adult learning principles and features powerful audiovisuals, group discussions, and simulations.

Participants will learn how to recognise when someone may be thinking about suicide and how to provide a skilled intervention and develop a safety plan with the person.

This workshop has a blend of learning methods including presentation, audio-visual aids, group discussions, simulations and skills practice which will increase your willingness, confidence, and capacity to provide suicide first aid.

Participants will have the opportunity to connect and build relationships with people attending the workshop from local organisations, who share a passion for suicide prevention and a desire to create and maintain suicide safer communities

Lunch and refreshments will be provided on both days.

Youth Suicide Prevention

Our new training in partnership with Oxfordshire MIND is specifically for any professional, or adult, who works with or regularly comes into contact with young people.

Participants will learn:

  • How suicidality can affect young people
  • The key warning signs to look out for
  • The language young people may use when expressing distress
  • Step-by-step guidance on how to open a conversation about suicide safely
  • Important safety considerations when responding to a disclosure
  • How to speak with parents and caregivers following a conversation with a young person

ALLIES

ALLIES is our new training specifically for young people aged 15-25, to provide them with information and practical skills so that they can help support their friends and peers who are experiencing challenges around their emotional and mental health, self harm and suicidality.

The training is split up over 4 days and into 4 sections:

Peer support

Mental health and Trauma

Suicide awareness and prevention

Skills practice

We will provide support to any participant who is supporting a friend.

The next ALLIES workshop will take place during the summer holidays at Nai's House

safeTALK

safeTALK is a 4 hour workshop that addresses the stigma surrouning suicide and provides participants with the knowledge and skills to identify a person thinking of suicide and how they can help them using four simple steps.

The next workshop is on Friday 12th June, 10am - 2pm at Nai's House, Garth Park, Bicester OX26 6PS

Refreshments, workbooks and pens will be provided.
